John Saroyan, EdD, received his doctorate in counseling and educational psychology at the University of San Francisco. He is a licensed clinical psychologist and licensed marriage and family therapist, with a private practice in San Pedro, California. He is also a psychologist at the Pepperdine University Counseling Center in Malibu, California. As a Fulbright Scholar Specialist, Dr. Saroyan helped develop mental health treatment programs for children and adolescents outside the country. As a military and family life consultant with the United States Department of Defense, he worked with American soldiers and their families internationally.Dr. Saroyan has published articles related to Core Self Theory and coauthored Trapped Between Innocence and Death, a book addressing the complexities of gang culture. As the clinical director of adolescent treatment programs in Los Angeles County, he played a pivotal role in shaping the futures of at-risk youth. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Saroyan enjoys spending time with his family, playing music, and traveling.
