The question of what constitutes norms for global justice is of considerable concern for all those interested in world peace and cooperation. In order to define these global norms, Jean-Marc Coicaud, while working at the United Nations University, initiated a project centered around conversations with leading theorists and policy practitioners in global affairs. Conversations on Justice from National, International, and Global Perspectives features world-class authors and activists, from around the world, and from a variety of disciplines, to discuss the central questions of justice at the national, international, and global levels. Made up of a compilation of dialogues, this volume's unique format makes it highly accessible and even fun to read. The insights and observations of these leading intellectuals and scholars provide a rich contribution to theories on how global justice might become a reality.

Reviews for Conversations on Justice from National, International, and Global Perspectives: Dialogues with Leading Thinkers

'Coicaud and Sieger have produced an indispensable single volume on global justice. Each chapter is a genuine conversation, illustrating the give-and-take necessary for a coherent and compelling discourse on global-scale ethical issues. It is exciting to see how principles of global justice are not only possible, but necessary, to understanding the dynamics of international relations in the twenty-first century.' Joel H Rosenthal, Carnegie Council for Ethics in International affairs 'A masterclass in humane intercultural and interdisciplinary dialogue. Highly recommended for anyone who cares about justice.' Daniel A. Bell, Shandong University 'Conversations on Justice from National, International and Global Perspectives constitutes an innovative and important contribution to the understanding of the reach of justice in our world. Ranging from the national to the wider domains of international and global arenas, this study brings together several salient dimensions. It includes the shared humanity of the global world, an assemblage of leading scholars of theory and practice probing a broad range of interdisciplinary issues on the moral consequences of global interdependence, and most importantly, the unique conversational format that makes the study both interesting and accessible. The book will set the tone and direction of this increasingly important area of scholarship for years to come.' Deen Chatterjee, University of Utah
