For the sake of many, Dr. Ven. Buddha Priya Mahathero (Abbot and Secretary of Siddharth United Social Welfare Mission, Chinar Park, Kolkata, India) and Dr. Ven. Bhikṣuṇī TN Gioi Huong (English Lecturer at the Vietnam Buddhist University in HCM City and Abbess of Hương Sen Buddhist Temple, California, USA) have co-organized an international seminar with the theme, ""Contributions of Buddhism for World Peace & Social Harmony,"" on July 2, 2023 at the Siddharth United Social Welfare Mission, Chinar Park, Kolkata, India.
At this Kolkata Seminar, there were twenty-three renowned speakers-spiritual peace leaders, eminent writers, and researchers presented their meaningful papers, such as Dr Siddharth M. Jondhale (Former Chancellor of Trinity World University), Professor Kishore Bhattacharjee (Viswabharati University, Shantiniketan), Professor Mahuya Mukherjee (Rabindrabharati University, Kolkata), Professor Swarnali Barua (Presidency University), Dr. Surajit Barua (Seth Anandram Jaipur College), Mr. Subhankar Barua (West Bengal Civil Service ), Mr. Nima Wangdi Sherpa (Chairman and Spiritual Peace Leader, Darjeeling Chapter), Ms. Priyanka Barua (Research Scholar, Calcutta University), Mr. Saurabh Barua (Research Scholar and Engineer), Mrs. Madhumita Barua (Writer and Speaker), Mr. Pradyut Chowdhury (General Secretary, Rishra Bauddha Samity, Rishra, W.B. India), Mr. Utpal Kanti Chowdhury (President of Rishra Samaj Kalyan Samity ), Dr. Palash Bandyopadyay (Eminent Writer and Physician), Ms. Shruti Barua (Writer, Sodepur-natagarh, Kolkata), and especially Dr. Ven. Buddha Priya Mahathero (the peaceful activist), Dr. Bhikṣuṇī Gioi Huong (Vietnamese-American author of eighty books), Rev. Buddharatna Bhante (Meditation Master in Bodhgaya, India), and Bhikṣuṇī TN Trí Minh (Spiritual Teacher in Canada).
Twenty-three papers from this seminar are presented from different perspectives, but carry the same idea-how to keep world peace based on the Buddha's teaching. These papers have been collected to publish as a book, Contributions of Buddhism for World Peace & Social Harmony, with the aim to share our Buddhist experience and knowledge and add our part to the common mission of keeping the world safe.
