La ciudad, como tropo, no solo ha sido un artificio poético para creadores que cincelan la imagen y la palabra, sino que ha llegado a ser un refugio que aparece y desaparece con total dependencia del receptor. Mismo que, gracias al encanto sensorial vive --quizá se desvive-- por espacios que gozan de infinito detalle como el que ofrece en su estructurada ciudad en reversa Carpentier, o posiblemente, lo opuesto que se recrea en los pasadizos de la memoria con ciudades mínimas creadas por el mexicano Alberto Chimal. Así, con esa visión creacionista e intermitente nacen en una espiral temporal ciudades (in)visibles que buscan lectores que sepan degustar al «escuchar con los ojos» visiones que aturden las fibras más sensibles de los sentidos.

Marcos Pico Rentería (Apatzingán, 1981) completa su licenciatura y maestría en University of Nevada, Reno (Estados Unidos) en Literatura y Letras Extranjeras con énfasis en español. En la misma recibe un nombramiento como instructor y asistente de investigación. Obtiene su doctorado en Arizona State University (Estados Unidos) en 2016 con su tesis doctoral sobre el grupo literario mexicano Crack y sobre dos colecciones de ensayo de Jorge Volpi. Editor de Nueve délficos. Ensayos sobre Lezama (2014, ensayo) publicado por la editorial Verbum (Madrid). Además, varios de sus textos han aparecido en revistas como Conexos, Aurora Boreal, La Santa Crítica, Revista Crítica, Nuestra Aparente Rendición, Eñe: Revista para leer, Vozed, Digo.palabra.txt, Confluencia y en antologías como Alebrijes de Palabras (2013), Pelota Jara: Cuentos de fútbol (2014). Actualmente es profesor en Defense Language Institute en Monterey, California. Susana Chávez-Silverman is a Califas-born U.S. Latina writer and flaneuse who (against all odds) is also an educator, aunque she mostly laments what's happened to la Cacademia over the last decade or so. She still finds joy and hope in being la High Priestess of SLOW to her students and former students, some of whom are among her closest compinches. Co-editor of Tropicalizations: Transcultural Representations of Latinidad (1997), she's also the author of Killer Crónicas: Bilingual Memories (2004) and Scenes from la Cuenca de Los Angeles y otros Natural Disasters (2010). Her book, Heartthrob: del Balboa Café al Apartheid and Back, will be published next year, by University of Wisconsin Press. Luis Felipe Lomelí (Etzatlán, 1975), known for depicting social injustice, was invited to Colombia by Laura Restrepo as a writer-in-residence (2006) and to South Africa by Nadine Gordimer (2011). ""Arandas"" appears in his unpublished book Perorata, winner of the 2017 Gilberto Owen National Literary Award.
