In the ever-evolving world of clay brick manufacturing, one truth remains constant: the quality of the final product is only as good as the raw material behind it. Among the many factors influencing clay performance, Particle Size Distribution (PSD) stands as one of the most critical-and least understood-elements shaping workability, strength, drying behaviour, and firing outcomes.

This book, the second volume in the Clays for the Brick Maker series, is written with a clear mission: to demystify PSD and make it accessible and actionable for brickmakers, lab technicians, plant managers, and engineers working in the field. While the subject of particle gradation is often buried in academic texts or lab reports, this manual aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice-between the lab bench and the factory floor.
