GARY W. JAY is currently, after 25 years of private practice, the Medical Director, Pain, at Schwarz Biosciences, Inc., Raleigh, North Carolina. Dr. Jay was the founder and president of the Southern California Pain Society, past president of the Florida Academy of Pain Management, and president-elect of the American Academy of Pain Management. He is one of the original founders of the American Academy of Pain Medicine (1983). Dr. Jay is a frequent lecturer on headache and pain. He authored The Headache Handbook and the Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Handbook (both titles, CRC Press) and more than 40 textbook chapters, peer reviewed journal articles, and monographs. Dr. Jay is a recent recipient of the Janet Travel Clinical Pain Management Award from the American Academy of Pain Management. He received the M.D. degree from Northwestern University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois.
