Granville Sewell is Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at the University of Texas El Paso. He completed his PhD at Purdue University and has also been employed by IMSL, Inc., the University of Texas Center for High Performance Computing, and Texas A&M University. Sewell has written four advanced mathematics books, a widely used finite element program (www.pde2d.com), and the book In the Beginning and Other Essays on Intelligent Design.
""If non-believers could learn about Christianity from this book, there would be a lot more believers in the world."" -Tom Nagle, United Methodist Pastor, Retired, El Paso, Texas ""Granville Sewell has written a very well informed and personal book about his Christian faith. He makes a strong and pedagogical case for Intelligent Design, gives a wonderful portrait of Jesus, and has a very honest and touching input to the problem of evil. Although I differ from Granville in some details . . . I still highly recommend Christianity for Doubters. This is no doubt a book that many doubters will embrace. It is my prayer that many who read it will accept Jesus into their lives and become Christians."" -Ola Hössjer, Professor of Mathematical Statistics, Stockholm University ""As Sewell shows, Christianity has its beginning and end in the beautiful, courageous, giving, and forgiving person of Jesus Christ, God incarnate. If one allows oneself to meet and fall in love with this most compelling of historical figures, remaining questions can be sorted out with patience and humility."" -Jonathan Witt, co-author of A Meaningful World: How the Arts and Sciences Reveal the Genius of Nature ""If non-believers could learn about Christianity from this book, there would be a lot more believers in the world."" -Tom Nagle, United Methodist pastor (retired), El Paso, Texas ""If you think a book on Christian evidence written by a PhD mathematician must be dry and soulless, think again. Granville Sewell does marshal his sharp intellect in making a case for a cosmic designer of life and the universe, but he writes in a style that is both lively and personable. And when he turns to the case for the God of Christianity, and for Jesus as the crucified and resurrected son of God, Sewell's voice is more than personable; it is heartfelt and at times deeply personal. ""While I differ with Sewell on some of the ways he understands God and Scripture, I am persuaded that this book will prove salutary to many a reader who has always held Christianity at arm's length under the impression that there was only one way that thoughtful and committed Christians can understand God's just nature and his relationship to sinners and suffering in the world. Christianity for Doubters accomplishes many things, but if it did nothing more than awaken doubters to some of the variety of thought among faithful Christians on the subjects of suffering and salvation, it would be worth the price of admission. As Sewell shows, Christianity has its beginning and end in the beautiful, courageous, giving, and forgiving person of Jesus Christ, God incarnate. If one allows oneself to meet and fall in love with this most compelling of historical figures, remaining questions can be sorted out with patience and humility."" -Jonathan Witt, co-author of A Meaningful World: How the Arts and Sciences Reveal the Genius of Nature ""Granville Sewell has written a very well informed and personal book about his Christian faith. He makes a strong and pedagogical case for Intelligent Design, gives a wonderful portrait of Jesus, and has a very honest and touching input to the problem of evil. Although I differ from Granville in some details (I believe in the inerrancy of the Bible, that the world is young, that Adam and Eve were real and that God initially created a world without suffering and death), I still highly recommend Christianity for Doubters. This is no doubt a book that many doubters will embrace. It is my prayer that many who read it will accept Jesus into their lives and become Christians."" -Ola Hössjer, Professor of Mathematical Statistic
