Choices is about those decisions, many instantaneous, that drive a life. HARPER JAMES, made two: to be a teacher, and to preach the value of the individual. Those choices find him a beloved, highly respected teacher, guiding his students away from the ethnic and racial hate being preached all around them.

Unfortunately, it also gets him killed. Harper's life and character are then revealed through a flashback of the adventures and choices made by his students.

Gary Markman has worn many hats throughout his life father, math teacher, counselor, businessman, and even New York City cab driver but writing has always been his true love. Though it never paid the bills, it remained his life raft through many of life's storms. His fascination with people and what makes them tick led him to leave his math career and earn an MA in Counseling Psychology, opening the door to meeting and counseling an incredibly diverse range of individuals, especially young people. He has always connected deeply with kids and their stories, and that connection helped shape the foundation of Choices. What he loves about writing fiction is the freedom to reshape reality with the metaphorical stroke of a pen. The world today can be complex, frustrating, and often sad. He can't change all of that but in his writing, he can. Gary is now working on the sequel to Choices, currently titled Evolution, with many of the characters continuing their journeys.
