'Every so often, a book comes along that articulates exactly what our country needs. This is one. Essential reading' Zack Polanski

A practical and hopeful guide for anyone who wants a route map to a fairer, greener future.

We are living in a social, political, economic and environmental emergency. The status quo is profoundly unstable; change is inevitable. Now is the time to get together to build a far healthier and more balanced world.

The decades-old political orthodoxy

that greed is good, inequality doesn't matter and we can keep treating the planet as a mine and a dumping ground

has been a recipe for disaster. Our world needs a new vision, the Green vision. From Universal Basic Income to fee education, from less stuff but more life, to genuine democratic opportunities for all, Natalie Bennett brings together a holistic, hopeful and practical vision for the future.

The foundations ofChange Everythingare conversations with many thousands of people. We need to engage millions to bring together the imagination, talents and energy of all in order to build and repair our societies. Then a positive future is within our reach.

NATALIE BENNETT was leader of the Green Party of England and Wales from 2012 to 2016, then entered the House of Lords in 2019 as Baroness Bennett of Manor Castle, one of her party's two peers in the upper house. In these roles, she has travelled the country speaking at public meetings, in schools, colleges and universities, and hearing about the many great grassroots efforts being made to tackle our polycrises. She has degrees in agricultural science, humanities and social science, reflecting her passion for joined-up, systems thinking, rather than reductionist, 20th-century-style approaches. She was previously editor of theGuardian Weekly, chief sub-editor on theBangkok Post, a volunteer at the Thai National Commission on Women's Affairs and a reporter for various regional newspapers in her native Australia.

Reviews for Change Everything: How We Can Rethink, Repair and Rebuild Society (2nd ed)

""Every so often, a book comes along that articulates exactly what our country needs. This is one. Essential reading."" — Zack Polanski ""A full-throated battle-song... We are ready for another world, we are ready to change everything and this wonderful book shows us exactly how we are going to do that."" — Caroline Lucas ""If charm and enthusiasm were enough to win over more reluctant citizens to a programme of radical change, Natalie Bennett would be a strong contender for the challenge. Change Everything is essentially a manifesto – delivered with great gusto – of what a green perspective would look like across a wide array of subjects."" — Ros Coward, The Ecologist ""The real joy of this book is to be found in the breadth of Baroness Bennett’s reading and experiences. It’s a well-grounded text, a hallmark of a committed radical."" — Liam Byrne, Politics Home ""Natalie Bennett is right: we have to change everything. But how? Sitting on our hands and hoping things will return to ‘normal’ is not an option… Natalie Bennett provides hope and inspiration by showing us how in a myriad of practical ways. If you want to “be the change you wish to see in this world”, read this book."" — Christine Milne, former leader of the Australian Greens ""A brilliant and timely guide. Natalie Bennett is the real deal, practising the politics that she preaches. Change Everything is both a manual and a manifesto for the way to create a better world before it’s too late. A must-read for anyone who wants a way out of our current political quagmire."" — Jennifer Nadel, Compassion in Politics ""In this very readable book, Bennett builds a foundation of ideas and policies to outline what she calls “Greenism”. It would have been very easy to make this a preachy work; it is rather a sharing effort, giving the reader an opportunity to see how they may act or react to the societal conditions we face."" — West of England Bylines ""Natalie Bennett can talk (she’s good, I’ve heard her several times) and she writes even better, in a direct, accessible manner. This book is a good read and a good advert for green politics. If you are not of a left-leaning and green persuasion I think you’ll enjoy it even if you don’t agree with it."" — Mark Avery ""An excellent introduction to what it means to be Green today."" — Tell the Truth Sheffield
