On Tu BiShvat - the 15th day of Shvat - trees celebrate their birthday!
The New Year for Trees marks the renewal and reawakening of nature after its winter slumber. The joyous day is celebrated in Israel and by Jews worldwide, planting trees and feasting on various delicious fruit. Special attention is given to Shiv'at Haminim, the Seven Species native to the Land of Israel, namely, wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranate, olives, and dates (honey).
