Mary Napoli received her doctorate from the Pennsylvania State University. She is an Associate Professor of Reading and Children’s Literature at Penn State Harrisburg where she teaches courses in children’s literature and literacy. She has published articles in , and numerous reviews of children’s and adolescent literature for Reading Today (now Literacy Today) online. She has also published numerous book chapters and co-edited several academic books focused on children’s literature. She has also served as the co-editor of the and has served on several notable committees including the Notable Books for a Global Society, Jane Addams Children’s Book Award, Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award (chair), and NCTE’s Award for Excellence in Poetry for Children. Deanna Day received a doctorate from the University of Arizona. She is an Associate Professor at Washington State University where she teaches courses in children’s literature and literacy. She just completed a three-year term on the NCTE Award for Excellence in Poetry for Children and the Notable Poetry books and verse novels list. Deanna has written a couple of chapters and articles on poetry as well as interviewed famous poets such as Georgia Heard and David Elliot. She has published articles in . Barbara A. Ward was an associate professor of literacy at Washington State University as well as an adjunct instructor at the University of New Orleans. She taught students in every grade from K-12 while living in New Orleans, Louisiana. She has published several articles and book chapters and is particularly interested in the creative process of authors and illustrators. A former chair of the NCTE Excellence in Poetry for Children Committee, she has served on several book award selection committees, including the Stonewall and the YALSA Excellence in Nonfiction Award Committees.
