Brilliant French Information Books introduce children to reading in French and provide practice so they can improve their reading skills.
This series of non-fiction books provides information and photographs of the French-speaking world, which supports 'Intercultural Understanding' by broadening pupils' perceptions of their own society, as well as of another culture.
Brilliant French Information Books have been written in such a way that they can be read easily and quickly, making them motivating and enjoyable. There is a fun multiple-choice quiz at the end of each book to check pupils' understanding.
To ensure progression and differentiation, there are three easily identifiable levels of difficulty, with 6 books in each level:
Level 1: Usually a single short sentence per page Level 2: Usually 1-3 short to medium sentences per page Level 3: Usually 3-4 sentences per page, varying in length
The free downloadable Teaching Guide for Level 1 contains a list of the topics and language covered with background information and English translations of the pupil books. The accompanying free downloadable files contain audio readings of the pupil books, as well as pdf versions of each book enabling them to be displayed on an interactive whiteboard.
