The author, one Captain W. Edgeworth Johnstone, a former English Heavyweight Champion showcases the necessary skills, attributes and training methodologies to succeed.

This manual has a range of focus areas. From boxing for self-defence, through to the practical value of boxing for the armed forces. Opening with the author's view on technique and training, he follows up with anecdotes, stories and opinions from famous military boxing advocates of his era.
