In a multi-day bike race or ride, each day is defined as a stage. As you ride with Peter along the course of his life, you will see that life is made up of stages from which we learn and grow. In 2012 Peter had the privilege of planning and organizing an eight-day multi-stage bike race named The Tour of New Zealand. It's a biennial Tour de France-style event for riders who love the intrigue of competition, but who also carry a passion to raise money for their chosen charity.

Born to Live is a play on those words. It is Peter's life story, one where at every stage there have been choices to make about which road to travel and who to follow. As you read his story, you will be introduced to his 'Coach', the One who has guided, encouraged, and met with Peter at every stage along the way.

A riveting account of faith, generosity, and the significance of a life well-lived.

"Peter Yarrell is the founder of the 'Tour of New Zealand', a biennial cycling tour that over the years has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for New Zealand charities such as St John, Unicorn Foundation, the Heart Foundation and Tearfund. An avid sportsman, he also founded the AMP City of Christchurch Multi Sport race, and more recently, the Lochmara Lodge Half Marathon in the Marlborough Sounds. Peter's love of organising adventure sport races stemmed from his own experience as a top competitor. In 2017 he was awarded the Queen's Service Medal for his services to sport in New Zealand.Peter and his wife Jilly have devoted their lives to helping people and promoting causes that benefit the community. Following a year at Capernwray Bible College, the couple created an 'open home' called 'Koinonia', a place of hospitality and support that ministered to hundreds of people over the years. IN more recent years they have established ""Tussock Heights"", a retreat venue with views to the majestic Coronet Peak.Peter's faith and relationship with God (who he describes as his 'Coach') has shaped Peter's life in profound ways. His book, ""Born to Live"" gives an account of his extraordinary life so far."

Reviews for Born to Live

"""I have enjoyed knowing Peter Yarrell for forty years and have rarely known anyone as positive, exuberant, exciting, and exhilarating! The many different and often remarkable spokes of his wheel find their security in the stabilising hub of his relationship with God, without which you will not understand him. Encouraging, inspiring, sobering, and challenging are all words I use to describe this book."" -Charles Price, Toronto, Canada ""The Tour of New Zealand has not had a start-line without me on it; yes, all six tours! Here on the start line of Born to Live through to the finish line, I have been equally challenged and absorbed."" -Rod Oram, Business Journalist, New Zealand ""In this book you will take a 'virtual ride' through the remarkable life of Peter Yarrell. Prepare to be surprised, amazed and inspired, as you journey with Peter towards his very personal 'finish line'."" -Mike Pollok, Managing Director, Ricoh"
