"Sickle cell anemia was first reported more than a hundred years ago. There is still no cure.

In 1949, Prof. Linus Pauling published ""Sickle Cell Anemia a Molecular Disease"", Science, Nov. 25, the first to hint connection between genetic disorder and protein misshape.

However, even to this date, not a single study among thousands ever suggests what the underlying force causing protein misfolding; except invoking nonspecific terms like ""aggregate"", ""fibrillation"", ""polymerization"", ""cluster"", ""clump"", etc. to describe their observations. "Keng C. Wu, a native of Chiayi, Dalin Taiwan, received the B.S. degree from Chiaotung University, Taiwan, in 1969 and the M.S. degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois in 1973. He was a lead member, technical staff, of Lockheed Martin, Moorestown, NJ. He holds a dozen U.S. patents, was awarded ""Author of the Year"" twice (2003 and 2006 Lockheed Martin), and presented a 3-hour educational seminar IEEE APEC-2007 S17."
