This book is quite big and long. It has many photos and many reminiscences as told by

Gary A. Rubin the author. Gary began his Pioneer Recording in his basement. He has recorded many current and past Detroit musicians, singers, commercials, jingles and once even a guy who played innagoddadavida's drum solo with his teeth! Yes, Gary has seen many hopefuls and professionals in his studio. I was once one of the many hopefuls, first with Rodney Knight and the Soul Sextet and then with The Bump. I recall Gary sitting in his office writing down everything he did in journal's every day. I marveled at how consistent he was with his journaling. This book is based on those accurate facts about who, what, where and how he lived his life, made his living and touched so many people.

If you're from Detroit, the book will have special meaning because of the many places And people Gary refers to all through his almost 700 pages. So many photos and thoughts as well are featured in this book. It is printed on very high quality paper which does the photos justice and it earns a place on your coffee tables. I highly recommend this book, especially if you're not from Detroit but hold an affection for the Detroit music scene through the decades of Doo Wop, hard rock, groups, bands like Bob Seger, and literally hundreds more.

Whether you live in, have lived in, or just enjoyed the Detroit sound in its golden age of hit records, you will love this book.

Highly recommended,
