Hi, I am Farida Engineer!I am a Parsi (Zoroastrian) who was born and brought up in Mumbai (Bombay), India, in the 1960s to loving and kind parents. Since I was a teenager, I've been fond of cooking, and my passion to learn different cuisines has grown over the years. After my marriage I moved to South India in the mid-eighties, where I learned and expanded my repertoire. In the early 2000s we moved to Canada, where I picked up various styles of cuisines from different cultures. This is a little bit about our heritage. So, who are Parsis?Parsis are Zoroastrians who pray to the Prophet Zoroaster. Parsis migrated to India from Persia, Iran, around the eighth or ninth century AD. Since then, their traditional cuisine has absorbed Indian flavours while retaining their original style of cooking. Our food is referred to as ""Parsi Bhonu,"" a fusion of dishes that has continued to evolve and be refined over centuries in India. There is a well-known saying: ""The way to the heart is through the stomach,"" and as a Parsi I know this is true. We as Parsis love to cook and share our food with family and friends.I am sharing these recipes in memory of my dear parents and ancestors, who have passed them on to me. I want everyone to get the same pleasure that I received while learning to cook these recipes from my mother. I hope you all enjoy cooking and eating them, as we Parsis always do.
