Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926), poet and art critic, is probably best known for his great lyric sequences, the Duino Elegies and the Sonnets to Orpheus. Jessie Lemont (1872-1947) was a American poet who gave a series of lectures on Rodin in America upon her return from her visits to Rodin in 1908, 1909 and 1910. She translated Rilke's essay with her husband Hans Trausil.
