The aim of the study presented in this book is to evaluate the effectiveness of a new organic ligand in the removal of heavy metals from wastewater and aqueous solutions by complexation.
The complexes formed were characterized using several spectroscopic techniques, including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), infrared spectroscopy (IR), UV-visible and mass spectrometry. These analyses determined the structure of the synthesized ligand and highlighted the presence of its donor sites.
The results of the kinetic and thermodynamic studies show a good capacity for heavy metal elimination by the histamine ligand in aqueous solution.
