HENRYK JURKOWSKI is Professor of Theatre at Warsaw University, Poland. Throughout his distinguished career, he been Guest Professor at the Ecole Superieure Nationale des Arts de la Marionnette, France, Instituto del Teatro, Spain, London Central School of Speech and Drama, Akademie der Darstellende Kunst, Germany, Akademie Muzickych Umeni, Prague, Teatralnyi Institute, Italy and Art Institute of Chicago, USA. He is Expert Editor of the World Encyclopaedia of Contemporary Theatre and author of History of the European Puppet Theatre, Volumes 1 and 2. PENNY FRANCIS is Honorary Fellow of the Central School of Speech and Drama, London, where she is Lecturer in Puppetry.She is co-founder of the Puppet Centre Trust, the national development agency for the art form, and was awarded the MBE for services to puppetry in 1998. She is the author of Puppetry: A Reader in Theatre Practice.
