'Lawrence Weaver's name is familiar to enthusiasts for Arts & Crafts architecture but this fascinating biography reveals for the first time the remarkable range of his activities alongside his writing career, from his early life selling ironmongery to his work as a civil servant, founder of Ashstead Potters, exhibitions organiser and dedicated promoter of modern craft and design.' - Dr Annette Carruthers, School of Art History, University of St Andrews
