For archers there are all kinds of how to books available in print and on the Internet, but for coaches there is hardly anything.

Even the coach training courses focus on what to teach instead of how to teach it. So where should coaches go for ideas as to how to introduce various pieces of archery equipment or new elements ofform and execution? There really wasn't anything available, so I wrote this book. Steve Ruis

Steve Ruis (1946- ) got started late in archery and was predominantly a compound bow field archer until frequent complaints about how we weren't doing enough to help kids in archery got him into coaching. He currently holds a Level 4 coaching credential from USA Archery and Master Coach credential from the National Field Archery Association and has recently been certified by US Collegiate Archery as he is now the coach of the University of Chicago Archery Team. Steve shoots recurves, longbows, and compound bows, but his real passion now is to elevate the coaching of archery, as that is the route through which many more people can come to enjoy the sport. Steve, born and raised in California, currently lives in Chicago, IL. Steve Ruis, with his partner Claudia Stevenson, have been publishing Archery Focus magazine for over a decade. Recently Steve has published Coaching Archery, the first coaching archery book in the English language for decades, through Watching Arrows Fly, a publisher created specifically to launch deserving archery books.
