Seonghoon Jeon is an emeritus professor of economics at Sogang University and currently serves as an economic advisor at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC (BKL), one of the top three law firms in Korea. Prior to joining BKL, Professor Jeon held the position of Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs (equivalent to Provost) at Sogang University for two years. From 2009 to 2012, he also served as a non-standing commissioner of the Korea Fair Trade Commission. Throughout his career, Prof. Jeon has made significant contributions in both academic and policy domains. He has authored numerous papers, focusing on theoretical and policy-oriented aspects of economics, which have been published in esteemed journals such as the European Economic Review, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Review of Industrial Organization, and Applied Economics. Prof. Jeon has been actively engaged in both the academic and policy domains, demonstrating his significant contributions. In 2009, he took on the position of the President of the Korean Academic Society of Industrial Organization. Over the course of two decades, he has been extensively involved in a wide array of legal cases pertaining to mergers, abuse of dominance, and cartels within South Korea. Prof. Jeon has served as an expert witness, providing his expertise to defendants, concerned third parties, and the Korea Fair Trade Commission. Prof. Jeon recently published a book in Korean titled Fair Trade Cases and Economic Analyses, which examines and highlights major antitrust case studies he was involved in. Currently, he is working on an English book titled Antitrust Policy in Korea: An Economic Perspective. This publication will comprehensively address the theoretical and practical aspects of Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Policy in Korea.
