Strategies for repositioning and forming eutectic mixtures by binary combination of Active Principle/Coformer or Active Principle/Active Principle are widely used to combat multi-resistant bacteria and increase solubility, bioavailability and consequently therapeutic effect. The choice of coformer is based on its chemical structure and the presence of proton-donating and proton-accepting functional groups capable of establishing non-covalent intermolecular interactions, such as hydrogen bonding, Van Der Waals forces and π-π interactions. The active ingredient chosen for repositioning is Celecoxib. The coformers are salicylic acid (A.SAL), maleic acid (A.MAL), nicotinamide (NIC), succinic acid (A.SUC) and cinnamic acid (A.CIN).
