Benjamin P. Myers has been teaching Western civilization and great books for over twenty years and is the director of Oklahoma Baptist University's Honors Program. A former Oklahoma Poet Laureate, he is the author of four books of poetry and two previous works of nonfiction.
""In this small but powerful book, Benjamin Myers has distilled the meaning of liberal education down to its essence, and startled us with a direct statement of the inescapable truth: that the Imago Dei and the love of God must be at the bottom of it all, else the undertaking will be in vain."" --Wilfred McClay, Victor Davis Hanson Chair in Classical History and Western Civilization, Hillsdale College ""The subtitle for An Invitation to the Liberal Arts prepares us to see how Benjamin Myers values the place of tradition, wisdom, virtue, and pursuit of truth, framing his compelling vision in the Great Commandment, which call for us to love God with heart, soul, mind, and strength. Christ followers who are called to the work of teaching, learning, and the life of mind will be refreshed and renewed in their service after reading this outstanding volume."" --David S. Dockery, president, International Alliance for Christian Education ""Guided by biblical wisdom and grounded in Christian conviction, Ben's cri de coeur for true liberal arts education is elegant and thoughtful. Evocatively and expertly, he draws readers into an exhilarating world in which hard-won wisdom is met with reverence and thanks. Indeed, his vision of Christian liberal arts beautifully suits us, for it is God in Christ who invites us to know, love, and delight in the fulness of truth."" --Douglas V. Henry, dean, Honors College, Baylor University
