The Rt Rev. Rennis Ponniah was the 9th Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Singapore from 2012 to 2020 and provided episcopal leadership to 27 Anglican churches in Singapore as well as six mission deaneries located in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, and Nepal. Following his retirement, he served on the global leadership team of the orthodox grouping known as the Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches (GSFA, 2021-2024, www.thegsfa.org).Bishop Rennis trained in the fields of sociology and theology. He studied at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Chicago, 1989), Regent College (Vancouver, 1996), and Trinity Theological College (Singapore, 1999-2000). Ordained as a deacon in 1990 and a priest in 1991, he served as Vicar of St John's-St Margaret's parish church in Singapore for almost 20 years. His great passion is to enable local churches to become communities of disciples who base their lives on Scripture and move in the power of the Holy Spirit to reach a world in need of Christ. He also enjoys walking and working with pastors of all denominations.Today, while remaining active in ministry, he enjoys a different mix and pace of life with Amir his wife, his four adult children, and eight young grandchildren.
