Prof. Dr. Piet Kommers is Emeritus Professor at the University of Twente, The Netherlands. As a pioneer in Educational Technology, he has contributed to global initiatives with UNESCO, NATO, and the European Commission. His research on metacognitive representations supports AI integration in education. Worldwide, he lectures on STEAM and the societal impact of AI, guiding educators and policymakers on thematic learning. Dr. İpek Saralar is a mathematics educator and a national education expert at the Ministry of National Education, Türkiye, and teaches part-time at Middle East Technical University (METU). She co-led the EduSimSTEAM project, promoting thematic learning and STEAM education across Europe. Holding an MSc in Mathematics Education from METU, an MA in Educational Technology and a PhD in the interdisciplinary field of Mathematics Education and Educational Technologies from the University of Nottingham, her work focuses on integrating technology into middle school mathematics classrooms, designing innovative learning scenarios, and supporting teacher development for future-proof education.
