Ten years after a solar flare wiped out technology across the globe, maverick ex-soldier Jake (DAVE BAUTISTA: Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, Dune franchise) navigates a dangerous new world of warlords and bandits, working as a treasure hunter recovering valuable objects from the old world for powerful clients. Self-appointed ‘King’ Valentine (SAMUEL L. JACKSON: The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Django Unchained) recruits him for a treacherous mission: to retrieve the Mona Lisa, discovered in the perilous badlands, once known as France. Jake reluctantly takes the job and teams up with Drea (OLGA KURYLENKO: Quantum of Solace), a local freedom fighter, whose main agenda is to rid her people of an unhinged ruler, Volkov (KRISTOFER HIVJU: Game of Thrones). As enemies close in from all sides and Volkov’s murderous intentions are revealed, Jake discovers his mission could determine the fate of the new world.
