Affirmations: A Pastor's Reflections on Faith, Meaning and Hope preserves the theological voice and pastoral wisdom of Rev. Robert L. Foley Sr., drawn from decades of ministry, public witness, and spiritual counsel.

These affirmations reflect thoughtful engagement with enduring questions: human freedom and moral struggle, suffering and divine providence, vocation, responsibility, and the sustaining hope of God. Rooted in Scripture and shaped by lived experience, they speak with clarity to both the heart and the mind.

At once devotional and intellectually grounded, this work models a faith that thinks carefully, endures faithfully, and acts responsibly in the public square. It reflects a ministry marked by pastoral care, moral courage, and social engagement in a world marked by both brokenness and grace. This volume stands as a theological archive, preserving a pastoral voice that continues to guide, challenge, and strengthen faithful living.

Reviews for Affirmations: A Pastor's Reflections on Faith, Meaning, and Hope

""Affirmations bears the unmistakable voice of a pastor formed by faith, discipline, and deep love for God's people. Rooted in theological clarity and pastoral wisdom, these reflections speak with both conviction and compassion, offering readers guidance that is steady, thoughtful, and spiritually grounded. This work will serve pastors, ministry leaders, and thoughtful readers as a companion for reflection, encouragement, and faithful engagement with life's enduring questions."" --Lawrence C. Henryhand, Presiding Elder, Harrisburg District AME Churches ""Rev. Foley became far more than a local pastor; he functioned as a trusted bridge between clergy, government, healthcare institutions, and community organizations. I personally had the opportunity to attend numerous events where he partnered and provided leadership as a faith-based health justice pioneer, demonstrating his belief that spiritual ministry must also address physical and community well-being."" --Fernando Cabrera, Senior Pastor, New Life Outreach International and former New York City Councilman (2018-2021) ""Affirmations: A Pastor's Reflections on Faith, Meaning, and Hope reflects the thoughtful work of a pastor who clearly believed that faith must be examined with honesty and lived with integrity. Rev. Robert Lewis Foley Sr. writes out of decades of pastoral ministry, bringing together theological reflection and lived experience in the life of the church. These reflections reveal a minister who sought to discern the presence and purposes of God within the realities of human life. The book stands as a meaningful expression of pastoral theology shaped by faithful ministry."" --J. Oscar McCloud, Associate Pastor Emeritus, Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, New York City ""Timely, thoughtful, and deeply grounded, this work offers a compelling witness to the enduring relevance of pastoral theology at its best. Affirmations is both instructive and inspiring--a meaningful resource for readers seeking mature, honest, and hope-filled Christian reflection."" --Susan A. Mendoza, Former Evangelist, Cosmopolitan Church of the Lord Jesus, Bronx, New York
