A surgical specialty concerned with the alteration, restoration or reconstruction of the human body is known as plastic surgery. There are two main categories of plastic surgery, namely, reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. Hand surgery, the treatment of burns, craniofacial surgery and microsurgery are classified as reconstructive surgery. It is concerned with the reconstruction or the improvement in the functioning of any specific body part. Cosmetic surgery deals with the improvement of the appearance of a body part. Some of the common techniques and procedures of plastic surgery include autotransplantation, allotransplant, xenotransplantation, etc. Different approaches, evaluations, methodologies and advanced studies on plastic surgery have been included in this book.
