Prof. Dr. Riyadh Al-Samarai was born in Salah Al-Din in 1970 and is a graduate of the University of Technology in Baghdad, holding BSc & MSC in mechanical engineering. He obtained his PhD in mechanical engineering-Applied Mechanics from the University Malaysia Perlis, Malaysia. Prof. Dr. Al-Samarai has held several positions including, Director of Missions and Social Relations, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Head of the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at Samarra University. He is the winner of the 202Iraqi Scientific Excellence Award and has launched a MSC program in electromechanical engineering at Samarra University. Prof. Dr. Al-Samarai has received many medals and awards, including the Creativity Award for Scientists in Malaysia, many medals in international scientific forums and conferences, Iraqi Forum for Intellectuals and Academics (IFIA), and the Best Research Paper Award at the Asian Universities Conference in Malaysia. He is the editor-in-chief of the Samarra University Journal of Engineering and Science and has 32 years of research experience, 23 years of university teaching experience, 16 years of administrative experience and more than 60 publications including citations 350, h-index = 7 and research grants of US$1 million. Prof. Dr. Yarub Al-Douri is a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and is winner of the prestigious Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation 2024. He is one of the Middle-Easts, North of Africa and Southeast Asias most renowned scientists, known for his contributions in renewable energy and nanotechnology. Prof. Dr. Al-Douri is a scientist, researcher, administrator and an excellent lecturer who has students all over the world, and received his Doctorate D’etat in materials science (2000), MSc in physics (1995) and BSc in physics (1991). He has been appointed full professor, visiting professor, adjunct professor, consultant expert, associate professor, assistant professor, research fellow, scientific collaborator and post-doc in UAE, KSA, Iraq, Malaysia, Turkey, Pakistan, Algeria, Yemen, Singapore, Germany and France, respectively. Prof. Dr. Al-Douri initiated a Nanotechnology Engineering MSc Program and Nano Computing Laboratory, in addition to founding Applied Materials Laboratory. He was the Head of Department of Physics, Head of Department of Nanomaterials and Department of International Networking and Collaboration, in addition to the Secretary of Department of Physics. He has received 78 national and international prizes and awards including the IAAM Scientist Award by International Association of Advanced Materials, Sweden 2022. He is also the winner of World’s Top 2% Scientist Career-Long Citation Impact by Stanford University, USA 2020, World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University, USA 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021 & 2020; OeAD Award, Austria 2020; Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Award 2019, Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) Award 2019, Iraqi Forum for Intellectuals and Academics Award 2019, Best Researcher Award at Cihan University Sulaimaniya 2021 & 2019, Best Paper at Global Conference on Energy and Sustainable Development, Coventry, UK 2015, Distinguished Researcher Award at University Malaysia Perlis 2011–2015, Gold Award at ITEX Kuala Lumpur 2013, TWAS-UNESCO Associateship 2009–2012 & 2012–2015. He has more than 31 years’ worth of experience with research, teaching, administrative and editorial board management, organizing events, research grants and consultations, in addition to more than 900 publications with renowned international publishers, and US$5.1M research grants. Prof. Dr. Al-Douri has notable citations > 14.2K and h-index > 65. He has supervised more than 25 students and is an associate editor of Nano-Micro Letters (Q1, IF= 31.6); editor-in-chief of Experimental and Theoretical Nanotechnology (Scopus-indexed); editor-in-chief of World Journal of Nano Science and Engineering, editor and peer-reviewer of 34 international journals, member of 13 international scientific bodies, organizer of 33 international conferences, and chairperson of 11 international conferences. He appointed 38 internal and external examiners for post-graduates students, presented 41 training courses and public lectures, and has been invited 66 times as keynote, invited and guest speakers to many reputed universities in Europe, Asia and Africa that ended up in generating more than 9 MOUs and MOAs. His research field focuses on renewable energy, nanotechnology, nanoelectronics, nanomaterials, modelling and simulation, semiconductors and optical studies. Prof. Dr. Al-Douri has contributed to academic and research life for upgrading universities to the international level. Finally, Prof. Dr. Al-Douri is a public figure among international media in the UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Qatar and UAE.
