I discovered the art of needle felting in 2018 after retiring from a long career in nursing. Little did I know as I tried my hardest to make that first piece look somewhat like an owl, that my life would change so much. I quickly fell in love with creating dolls 'of a certain age' and felt it was important to try and show their inner spirit, and also what to me can be the beauty of aging, which I feel is often overlooked. During the hours it took to create each doll, I started thinking back about memories of my childhood spent in England. I rediscovered the delight of my 8 yr old self and her vivid imagination, and so I began to write what I knew she would enjoy. Those memories, and the joy of writing stories magically happens with each new doll and have given me a wonderful sense of traveling full circle. I live in Southern Oregon, a wonderful slice of the Pacific Northwest, with my husband Terry. I am loving this totally unexpected part of my journey.

Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2026 Format: Hardcover I was introduced to Swete Woolies by one of my kids a while back, and I remember one of the first thoughts that came to mind was that they deserved to be in a book. I started to follow Carolyn, and each time she showed us someone new, I thought; there's another story, and another, etc. Her little people are so full of life and character they seem almost alive. What a thrill it was to discover the family was actually going to be published! And Carolyn does not disappoint. The art is breathtaking, the stories are timeless, and the one-of-a-kind nature of this book is unmatched. This beauty is the perfect gift for anyone; young or old, girl or boy, yourself or someone else. Congratulations Carolyn, you made something unique and wonderful. A treasure to be handed down for generations. Thank you. Beautiful, Magic, Refreshing, New Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2026 I would give this enchanting book ten stars if I could. The senior dolls this author created in felting are so authentic and with so much character, and personality. Each has a quaint, fun name and a ""swete"" little story. Buy it for yourself, your grand children, and a friend that needs a little magic. A Keepsake!
