"The 100 objects in the catalog are grouped by type (furniture, which is subdivided into several categories; textiles; metalwork; ceramics; musical and other instruments; and paintings and prints) and presented chronologically. Their storied past is revealed by a scholar who shares his lifetime of looking and research. This book will delight the older generations, and perhaps it will awaken new enthusiasm for American cultural history among younger folk. It will surely get more curious people to Odessa to see the town, its houses, and its collections. -- ""Maine Antique Digest"" A Storied Past: Collections Of Historic Odessa not only shines a bright light onto Historic Odessa's rich collections but elevates the level of scholarship through Zimmerman's methodology of relying on the surviving historical documentation, with profuse footnotes throughout. -- ""Antiques & Arts Weekly"""
