Dennis Pitt, MD, MMEd, FRCS(C), is a retired general surgeon. He practiced surgery for forty-five years, forty-four in Ottawa at the Riverside and the Ottawa Hospitals. He is the author of Those Were the Days: An Anecdotal History of the Academy of Medicine Ottawa (2004) and has authored and co-authored numerous journal articles on medicine. A Journey in Surgery: The Memoir of a Canadian Surgeon is his second book. Even in retirement, Dennis continues to stay active in the medical community. He is an associate professor at the University of Ottawa, a life member of the Ontario Medical Association, and an honorary member of the Canadian Medical Association. When he's not working, Dennis enjoys singing in the church choir, playing sports and spending time with his family. He lives in Ottawa, Ontario, with his wife.
