In 2006, worried about rising prevalence rates of AIDS in the Asia Pacific region, the Australian Government engaged me to help develop a private sector response across the region. This resulted in the creation and development of a network of national business coalitions, financed by the private sector and focusing on workplace education. A small number of countries, like Singapore, already had coalitions that joined the regional network. That's how I met Susie Solomon, the dynamic founder of the Singapore Business Coalition on AIDS. We also developed a regional training role for Susie to assist new coalitions establish their workplace programs.Susie and I are still friends nearly twenty years later. I was impressed by her deep knowledge of the development of HIV and AIDS, her dogged persistence in environments like Singapore where both Business and Government were not always keen to talk about AIDS and her warmness and empathy that made her a great trainer.Stephen Grant, CEO, Asia Pacific Business Coalition on AIDS (2006 -2013)
