With students returning to in-person classes, noticeable changes occurred in their behavior, attention spans, and socially awkward interactions with one another. The school and the team had to rethink how to engage students and guide them to stay seated, focus, and participate. She shares all of this because it is the reason behind revising A Different Approach on the Skills of Life. She emphasized adding several ways for students to work together and improve communication. The book now features new chapters, updated information, and the removal of unnecessary material.

Education should return to fundamentals, with technology serving as a tool. Increasing mental efforts through creativity, problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, and active listening is essential. It's time for students, parents, and educators to take responsibility for their learning, social, and emotional well-being, and to act positively.

Leatrice D. Williams, an educator with over thirty years of experience, has taught grades three through eight. She served as teachers' union president for eight years and participated in several district committees. After a year and a half of retirement, she returned as a long-term substitute for the business class at the middle school. She continued for the next two years as a coordinator for the Explore and Physical Education teams, providing support to other grade-level teachers.Over the two and a half years since returning to the district, they experienced education during the COVID pandemic, which transformed our educational environment, just as society itself did. Teaching students was challenging because teachers had to instruct them both online and in person simultaneously. By the middle of the third quarter of the second year, the school reopened for students full-time.
