Chick (Charles) grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida in the 1950s-60s; but over the years has lived in north Florida, the coast of North Carolina, and the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Over the years, his experiences have led to him writing short stories about them. Some of his stories are true while others are inspired by real-life experiences. He is now retired and living in Henderson County, North Carolina. His main interest, other than writing short stories is messing about in boats. He lives with his wife, Debbie, a dog, three cats, and a bunch of turtles. He is the author of two previous books containing short stories, 'The Adventures of Apple John: the Man - the Myth.' And 'Chick Tales, the Truth, the Half Truth, and Nothing Like the Truth.' Andy Silvers (Harvey Alter) is an author, filmmaker, and YouTuber who was born in Luga, Russia. In 2021, he released an original short film entitled ""Snapshot"" that tackles oft-ignored themes of adoption and disability. As a person with a missing left arm, these ideas were close to his heart. This film won a newly-invented award in the Mozi Motion Int. Film Festival called ""Accessibility."" Starting in 2020, Andy began writing novels starting with Red Sprites and Blue Jets, a coming-of-age story for ages 8-12. Following this was a children's picture book called The Very Colorful Caterpillar inspired by the Eric Carle book. While wrapping up film school, he devised his first novella called Solomon Grando vs the Jupiter Witch; this book follows a vampire who must save the world during an epidemic outbreak while battling his greatest fear-witches. Hoop Drama was released in 2024.
""Time flies, as the cliche goes-and the older you get, the faster it flies. Eventually, the past becomes a distant memory before finally devolving into what we call ""history."" Yet, it's essential not to lose track of the past. Documenting it is why books like A Boy's Life in the 50's: Growing Up in Florida are invaluable. Chick Ludwig has dug deep into his memories and uncovered an eclectic treasure trove of humorous tales that bring the 1950s in America back to colorful life (which is ironic considering most TVs back then broadcast in black and white). The book is lively, entertaining, and often hysterical, but its greatest strength is that it deftly captures the Fifties in Florida with top-notch storytelling and impressive authenticity. Ludwig takes you back to a bygone era when growing up was simpler, less rigid, and mostly spent outdoors. Did alligators, mosquitoes, and sandspurs stand in the way of the author's adventures? Of course! But who cares? Kids of that era were masters of their domain. They roamed wild and free, and their favorite toy was their imagination. Ludwig's imagination will take you on a journey back in time, inspiring readers to revisit their own childhood memories, wherever and whenever they grew up."" - Jim Melvin is an award-winning novelist and journalist whose book The Adventures of a Florida Boy chronicles his childhood in Florida in the 1960s
