Travis jokingly refers to himself as a psycho biologist or a psycho farmer, because of his seemingly radical (by many people's perspectives) approach to gardening and the use of trees and bushes. He was born and raised, and is still a resident of, with his awesome wife, in southeast Wisconsin. He is a father of two children - 1 daughter, 1 son.A science geek since early childhood, he majored in Biology at the University of Wisconsin. He has a passion for constantly learning, growing things, life itself, and questioning conventional wisdom. He also attended Oregon State University where he studied Permaculture Design. In 2005, he and his wife moved into the house they built and where they currently live. When they originally bought the land (10 acres) it had been used for farming and contained exactly zero trees. They started planting trees by hand. Their whole goal for the entire property was to design an edible and sustainable landscape, primarily as a means of future survival preparation. (At the time, Travis was a big fan of the National Geographic TV series Practical Preppers). Now, their property consists of, in part, more than 500 trees, vines, and bushes - a few evergreens, hard maple trees, fruit trees, persimmon and paw-paw trees, 100 American Plum trees, nut trees and shrubs, and grape and berry vines, to name just a few.And that evolved into a deep personal passion for gardening and permaculture design that Travis is excited to share with you ... and qualifies him as a psycho farmer.Let's get our hands dirty ...
