Dr Rebecca Coates joined MUMA as Director in July 2023. She is a museum director, curator, writer and lecturer with experience across a range of contemporary art institutions, including the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne International Arts Festival, and the Museum of Modern Art Oxford. Prior to joining MUMA, she was Artistic Director and CEO of the Shepparton Art Museum (SAM). Her work is grounded in a commitment to artistic leadership, community engagement, and supporting inclusive and responsive cultural programs. Stephanie Berlangieri joined MUMA as Curator Research in 2024. As a curator, researcher and writer, her interests encompass digital technology, labour and mental health, and their impacts on contemporary selfhood and social relations. She is currently an Adjunct Curator at the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane, and has previously held curatorial roles at Carriageworks, Sydney; the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney; and the Biennale of Sydney. Recent exhibitions include Desire Is a Machine (IMA, Brisbane, 2025); Image Economies (MUMA, 2025); Duty of Care (IMA and Griffith University Art Museum, Brisbane, 2024); Salote Tawale: I remember you; and The National 4: Australian Art Now (Carriageworks, 2023).
