Merchant banker and publisher turned social activist, Michael Norton has devoted the past 30 years to transforming civil society, picking up an OBE on the way. He set up the Directory of Social Change in 1975 which pioneered the provision of training in fundraising, communication and management for people running charities in the UK, and which publishes a wide range of practical handbooks and grant guides.
