Ken Hoganson is a Professor of Computer Science and a textbook author. He grew up in Fargo, North Dakota (yes, that Fargo), watching Great Northern, Northern Pacific, and Milwaukee Road trains run through his home town. As a young man, he was an avid outdoor adventurer, swimmer, and long-distance runner. Ken's career has spanned a multitude of vocations including pool manager and lifeguard, blackjack dealer, assembly-line worker, and security guard. After his initial education, he served in the U.S. Army running computer systems, finishing his military service as a captain. Ken earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Auburn University. Ken has built layouts in Z, N, HO, and O scale, and ran an outdoor G scale layout in his backyard for a few years. He jumped into O gauge with the birth of his son, as a fun activity they could share. He is currently working on his first 5x12 S scale layout using Lionel's S-FasTrack. Ken is avidly following SpaceX's adventures with their new Starship rocket in Boca Chica, Texas.Ken's children are grown, and he lives with his wife and three cats in a small town in Georgia, just North of Atlanta.
