""One of the best new comics of the year for adults... Ako approaches her thirties awkwardly and out of step with her friends. Suddenly something emerges in her life that gets her to reexamine her world and her place in it: skateboarding. She dives headfirst into what feels like a new culture and finds community."" –New York Public Library ""As a sports manga, with an emphasis on learning how to perform the sport, Sketchy is quite good: even a klutz (like this author) could imagine how to get on a board and start to roll down the street. There is much joy in Hirochi’s depictions of Skating 101 know-how."" -The Comics Journal
