Catalina Echeverri is originally from Bogota, Colombia, and she speaks English, Spanish and Italian. She studied graphic design in Milan, Italy and completed an MA in Children's Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Arts (ARU). She loves to draw all of the time, and takes her sketchbook everywhere with her. LION AND MOUSE is her first picture book, and she lives in London.
Fun to read, and it also reinforces a positive message about sharing differences and looking beneath the surface to find true worth. * Teach Nursery * This is Echeverri's first book and her illustrative style is dynamic and stylised with line drawings, strong colours and a range of fonts to enhance the story. Mouse, erasing the dark to rescue Lion, is particularly well done. It would be interesting to see what small children being read to make of Mouse's thoughts - the book could be a useful tool for talking about using words in a considerate way. -- Annalise Taylor * Carousel *
