CUONG LU is a Buddhist teacher, scholar, and writer. He was born in Vietnam in 1968 and emigrated to the Netherlands with his family in 1980. He majored in East Asian studies at the University of Leiden, and in 1993, he was ordained a monk at Plum Village in France and became a disciple of Thich Nhat Hanh. In 2000, he was authorized by Thich Nhat Hanh to teach the Dharma in the Lieu Quan line of the Linji School of Zen Buddhism. In 2009, Cuong Lu left Plum Village after sixteen years and returned to lay life in the Netherlands. He became a chaplain in the Netherlands' penitentiary system for six years. In 2015, he received a master's degree in Buddhist Spiritual Care from the Free University in Amsterdam. Cuong is the founder of Mind Only Institute of Buddhist Psychology in the Netherlands and No Word Zen Practice Center in France.
