BODHIPAKSA started exploring Buddhism in the 1970s after coming across a copy of the Dhammapada in a bookstore in his native Scotland. He was given his name, which means ""Wings of Enlightenment,"" when he became a member of the Triratna Buddhist Order in 1993. He believes in exploring the interplay of different styles of meditation and teaches jhāna, the divine abidings, and insight practice. Increasingly, self-compassion has become the core of everything he does.
""Bodhipaksa's lovely book is sure to bring joy and foster calm throughout the year. It provides a wealth of wise teachings and kind reflections we can use right now, today, and every day in a concise form sure to make practice almost effortless."" --Doug Smith, Doug's Dharma on YouTube and owner of Online Dharma Institute ""This is a delightful gift book, with entries for every day of the year; but it's so much more as well. Bodhipaksa draws on his deep knowledge of the Buddhist scriptures to find wonderfully wise and helpful sayings. And the meditation tips distill his vast experience as a teacher who knows how to guide people to be calm and centered--when it's time to sit and when it's time to get on with the rest of your life. A book for this year and every year."" --Vishvapani Blomfield, author ""What a gift this book is to beginners in mindfulness and to those who have practiced for many years. You could make a life-changing mindfulness program out of the exercises in this book while the quotes chosen by Bodhipaksa, short and simple as they are, amount to a compendium of Buddhist wisdom. As anyone who, like me, has done his online courses can testify, Bodhipaksa is an engaging teacher. He has brought his decades of experience to A Year of Buddha's Wisdom, a book I will open again many, many times."" --Padraig O'Morain, mindfulness teacher and author of Kindfulness and Mindfulness on the Go
