LONNIE G. BUNCH III is the Smithsonian's 14th secretary and founding director of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. He has also served as president of the Chicago Historical Society and associate director for curatorial affairs at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. He is the author of A Fool's Errand and more than a dozen books on history, race, and museum studies.
