""Anna Farro Henderson’s Core Samples ought to be required reading for anyone interested in a career in the sciences. Honest and immersive, this book offers a behind-the-scenes look at how culture (and who crafts it) shapes everything from the sediment the narrator studies to the policies that define climate action today.""-Elizabeth Rush, author of The Quickening: Creation and Community at the Ends of the Earth ""This is a remarkably honest book-and therefore funny, moving, and eminently worth reading. Anna Farro Henderson’s deep encounters with Big Science and Big Bureaucracy will help you understand why progress on matters of life and death can be so maddeningly slow; her encounters with herself may help you figure out how to live your own life.""-Bill McKibben, author of The End of Nature ""With fierce intelligence and wild exuberance, Anna Farro Henderson throws herself headlong into the biggest challenges of our time: how to love fully, create abundantly, and stop the ruin of the precious ecosystems that sustain us. Let her gorgeous essays teach you how to bring to the table every self you’ve got (even the ones you haven’t dreamed up yet) and activate the vital energies we need to fight for the places we call home.""-Lia Purpura, author of All the Fierce Tethers ""A lively and accessible narrative about finding a balance between convictions and love.""-Kirkus Reviews ""This book is for people who traverse seamlessly between spaces, whose identities do not fit in a box, and who can simultaneously play insiders and outsiders.""-Science Magazine ""In essays that are playful, intelligent, and full of heart, Anna Farro Henderson’s Core Samples: A Climate Scientist’s Experiments in Politics and Motherhood does the important work of putting science, climate change, and politics into real life and human bodies""-Brevity Blog ""Some books are so good I want to shout about them to the rooftops. [Core Samples], the new essay collection by Anna Farro Henderson is one of those shout-able titles.""-Dayton Daily News ""Through memoir, Henderson makes the climate crisis approachable, framing our interaction with the Earth’s systems as a relationship, an ongoing story.""-New Ohio Review
