A luscious, wildly entertaining biographical novel about love, ambition, resilience, reinvention, and Elizabeth Taylor in Italy during the summer of 1967 when, on the big-budget set of Boom! Alongside her husband Richard Burton, she truly was the woman who had everything...and needed so much more.

On the glittering Italian set of Boom!, a big‑budget adaptation of a Tennessee Williams play, Elizabeth Taylor is at the height of her fame. It's an exhilarating experience for everyone in her orbit. That includes Jean, her personal assistant, and Buddy, her semi-closeted best friend and costume designer. A flamboyant force of nature, Taylor enjoys ""improving"" the lives of those around her through matchmaking-and the young, gamine Jean is one of her favorite projects.

Yet Jean can see that for all Elizabeth's verve, she's worried that her box-office potential is dimming. At 35, she needs to stretch. She sets her sights on an unlikely role- the lead in the film version of Hello, Dolly!.

Jean and Buddy must also help Elizabeth navigate her tempestuous personal life. The Burtons live on their lavish yacht during filming, and Elizabeth is fiercely protective of her four children. Richard Burton's heavy drinking makes him apt to stray, and soon the off-screen dramatics eclipse anything happening in front of the cameras.

But beyond the public spectacle, there are other, undeniable transformations underway. By the time Boom! wraps, Jean and Buddy's lives will have changed irrevocably. And the star herself will have taken steps toward a new legacy built not on her fabled beauty but as an entrepreneur and humanitarian, driven to help others live their best lives . . .

Reviews for The Woman Who Had Everything: A Novel of Elizabeth Taylor and the Summer of Love

Praise for Stephen Greco: “Explores with aplomb the luxurious jet-set life of its subjects, and their abiding friendship in the 1960s and 1970s… With cameos from Leonard Bernstein, Rudolf Nureyev and Andy Warhol, it’s a crash course in the pop culture of the time. A rollicking ride that’s equal parts gossip, tenderness and emotional truth.” —The Toronto Star on Such Good Friends ""Glimpses into the lives of two complex women whose unshakeable bond enables them to navigate the upper echelons of high society. It is well-researched with flawless details and makes for an interesting read."" —Historical Novel Society on The Last American Heiresses “Fascinating and effervescent... Such Good Friends captures a platonic yet deeply passionate friendship that had all the faultlines of a doomed romance, and the seismic influence of Capote and Radziwill on their respective worlds, and each other.” —Natalie Jenner, author of the international bestseller The Jane Austen Society and Bloomsbury Girls on Such Good Friends “A mesmerizing account of extravagance, glamour, privileged celebrity, and crushing betrayal. Greco’s fabled protagonists capture the explosive alchemy between privacy and ambition, and the self-destructive caprices that upended an era.” —C.W. Gortner, author of The American Adventuress on Such Good Friends “A thoughtful examination of the precarious bonds of friendship, fame and fortune. Sweepingly detailed, with glamour and mystery woven throughout. Fans of Capote and the era of Camelot should be delighted.” —Shana Abe, bestselling author of The Second Mrs. Astor on Such Good Friends “Seamlessly blends high society glamour with human frailties in this vivid recreation of celebrated writer Truman Capote’s and New York socialite Lee Radziwell’s complicated friendship that spanned from the 1950s into the 1970s. —Mary Ellen Taylor, Amazon bestselling author on Such Good Friends “A deeply personal portrait of a friendship between two unique people whose lives encompassed world travel, high society, popular culture, and human frailty.” —Kim Van Alkemade, New York Times bestselling author of Orphan # 8 on Such Good Friends
