Nathan Myhrvold is a photographer, chef, scientist, and author. A physicist by training, the former chief technology officer of Microsoft draws on his passions for technology, science, and invention to push photographic limits. He and his team build custom cameras, robots, microscopes, and software to capture the world from new and surprising perspectives. He has pioneered avant-garde food photography techniques for his award-winning Modernist Cuisine cookbooks. His photography has been exhibited in museums and galleries, and led to the opening of Modernist Cuisine Gallery by Nathan Myhrvold, the first gallery in the world devoted to food photography. When not photographing food, Myhrvold travels the globe to visually document nature and wildlife. His recent innovations in snowflake photography have resulted in the highest resolution snowflake camera in the world. An avid researcher and lover of space, Myhrvold did postdoctoral cosmology work with Stephen Hawking and is currently developing new astrophotography techniques. His photographs have been featured in Smithsonian Magazine, Popular Photography, Digital Photo Pro, Galerie magazine, the New York Times, Vanity Fair, WIRED, the New Yorker, Bloomberg Pursuits, Artnet, and more. Myhrvold is also the founder of Modernist Cuisine, award-winning author of The Photography of Modernist Cuisine, coauthor of Modernist Cuisine- The Art and Science of Cooking, Modernist Cuisine at Home, Modernist Bread, and Modernist Bread at Home, and author of Food & Drink- Modernist Cuisine Photography.
