Ed Brubaker is one of the most acclaimed writers in comics, a multiple Eisner Award winner. Following fan-favorite runs on Scene of the Crime, Sleeper, Catwoman and Gotham Central for DC, he moved to Marvel. His Captain America relaunch, in which he controversially revived Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier, won over fans new and old, and his revisionist take on the history of Marvel's mutants in X-Men: Deadly Genesis resulted in a regular gig on Uncanny X-Men, Marvel's flagship X-title. He and longtime artistic collaborator Michael Lark took up the baton on Daredevil after Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev's legendary run concluded, and Brubaker jump-started Immortal Iron Fist with co-writer Matt Fraction and artist David Aja. Marvel's Icon imprint published Brubaker's creator-owned Criminal and Incognito, and he has gone on to further success at Image Comics with such titles as Fatale, Velvet and The Fade Out. Beyond comics, Brubaker has written for TV's Westworld and co-created the crime drama Too Old to Die Young.
Praise for Captain America: The Winter Soldier “[The Winter Soldier is] one of the best comic runs in the last 20 years, one of our favorite comic runs of all time…” — Anthony Russo, director of Marvel Studios’ Captain America: The Winter Soldier “I’ll never forget reading this book. Brubaker and Epting filled it with realism, unleashing an espionage-packed shadowy thriller that, like Bucky himself, refused to be ignored. When you look at the best Captain America stories ever told, this will always make the list.” — Brad Meltzer, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of The Book of Fate and Identity Crisis “The story of Captain America and the Winter Soldier is the story of every soldier who defends this country: willingness to put duty over self, and an unbreakable bond of loyalty to both country and the men and women fighting beside you. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a beautiful, tragic tale of valor and sacrifice.” — Alma Katsu, former CIA officer and acclaimed author of The Hunger and Red London “Captain America: The Winter Soldier reads like a descent into madness — a battle for sanity — in a covert world where good and evil are at once allies and enemies, where the truth is around every corner with a loaded gun. An exploration of the complex interplay between dreams, reality and memory — and the high price of power — it’s a tale both gripping and profound. I dare you to open this and walk away.” — I.S. Berry, former CIA officer and Edgar Award-winning author of The Peacock and the Sparro “Brubaker and Epting’s Captain America run isn’t just one of the best Cap stories of all time — it’s one of the best comic runs of all time.” — AIPT “The Winter Soldier makes an explosive debut in his first appearance as he faces off with his old mentor, Captain America. Brubaker’s Winter Soldier run truly changed everything for Steve Rogers moving forward.” — CBR “…the perfect gateway comic…The Winter Soldier made me a bigger comics fan, but more importantly it made me an Ed Brubaker fan.” — Slashfilm
